2026 Pre Race Information

Any issues should be confirmed to us using the Contact Us form on our website.

This year the charities that we are delighted to support are MS-UK and St Helena Hospice and we are pleased that representatives of the charities will be joining us to support all the athletes that day.

1. Points to note on the Route

Marshals will be in place to give you directions.

  • Layer Road is only closed on the left side.  The official measured route is along the path.
  • Berechurch Road Crossing 1 – Run to the left of the cycle gates, diagonally across the road and to the far tarmac track.  Keep on the left track and not on the gravel path.
  • Hooper Avenue Roundabout – The route follows the pedestrian path to the left and not straight across the roundabout.
  • Berechurch Road Crossing 2 – After crossing the road turn right along the tarmac path.
  • Ypres Road / Circular Road South Crossing – When reaching the bottom of the Ypres road run diagonally across Circular Road South  to the crossing point. Marshals will guide you.
  • Please keep to the right side of the path when running on Abbey Field after Ypres Road and the water station.
  • The finish line is now on Abbey Field close to the registration desks.
  • The route map can be found on our website

2. Pacing Team

We have a fantastic Pacing Team at 5 minute intervals from 40 to 80 minutes.  They will be obvious in their bright green vests.  Please align yourself at the start of the race according to their position on Circular Road North.

3. Water Stations

Water will be provided at approx. 4.5k and 7.5k and the finish line.  To help reduce littering we would appreciate if you could throw any waste into big bins approximately 100m past the water stations.

4. Visually Impaired Runners

We may have Visually Impaired (V.I.)  runners competing.  They will be tethered to another runner so please be considerate and give space to both where necessary.

5. First Aid

We have qualified first aiders situated behind the Finish line and on key areas of the route. All marshals are in possession of key phone numbers in case of injury or emergency.

6. Food and Drink

We are now able to offer food, drinks and ice-creams for sale to both competitors and spectators.  Outlets will be situated between registration and the finish line.  Water and bananas are are available at the finish.

7. Course Re-measure and alterations  (last year)

Arrangements are the same as 2025 in that we will not be using the Garrison Stadium.

The course was officially remeasured in 2025 and differs from the previous course only at the beginning and end of the route. The start has been moved back to allow for a longer straight run down Circular Road North and turns left turn at the mini-roundabout followed by a right onto Goojerat Road.

The route then joins Layer Road where it follows the same route as previous years until the final 300m, where a right turn is taken on the path just before the Garrison Stadium leading to the finish which is situated on Abbey Fields.

Race Day Information

We will be donating proceeds from the 2026 Colchester10k to MS-UK, St Helena Hospice and other charities. Please give generously to this most worthwhile cause.
